Maintain a Healthful Environment with UV Germicidal Lights

Winters in the Northeast are long and arduous, and they can really take a toll on one’s health. While there is no guarantee that you will be able to make it through the winter season without so much as a sniffle, there are certainly ways in which you can help to reduce the risk of contracting an illness. Maintaining great indoor air quality in your home is one such way, especially when it comes to biological pollutants. To combat biological pollutants in your living space, you can use UV germicidal lights in Springfield, VTHB Energy Solutions is here to install and service your UV germicidal lights for you.

What Are UV Germicidal Lights?

UV, or ultraviolet, germicidal lights are a type of air purifier, though they differ greatly from basic air filtration systems and even electronic air purifiers. Rather than trap pollutants such as dust and dirt, you see, UV air purifiers target biological pollutants that may be running rampant in your home. These may include viruses, mold spores, and bacteria.

How Do They Work?

UV germicidal lights are lamps that are installed directly into one’s HVAC system, typically near the air handler. This placement helps to ensure that all of the air passing through the system is treated by the lamps. Small amounts of UV radiation are emitted, and this radiation disrupts the pollutants at a DNA level. They are rendered incapable of reproduction, and are effectively destroyed.

Limitations

UV air purifiers are designed to handle biological pollutants. They will not, however, do anything to address airborne pollutants such as dust and dirt. Because of this, UV air purifiers are to serve as a supplement to basic air filters and electronica air purifiers, not as a replacement.
