Here in Vermont, winter has been known to overstay its welcome from time to time. Even those of us used to such shenanigans will admit that accumulating snow post Mother’s Day is really starting to push it, though. With that in mind, we are going to turn our focus toward warmer thoughts in today’s post, and talk about your air conditioning system. More specifically, we are going to talk about the air filter in your home cooling system.
There are some common misconceptions about this air filter, including its primary objective, that we’d certainly like to put to rest. We’d also like to help you understand just how vital it is that you keep that air filter in great working condition. That means changing it out when needed. And that is a job that is much of less of a hassle than some homeowners seem to think! In fact, it’s probably the single most important AC-related task that you yourself can handle.
Of all the problems that you may encounter with your home plumbing system, low water pressure may not exactly sound like the most urgent. And you know what? It may not be. It’s hard to argue that low water pressure is more urgent, for instance, than an overflowing toilet. Or at least, it may seem that way in the moment. What too many homeowners fail to realize is that low water pressure can actually be indicative of very serious plumbing problems.
Last time around, we recommended that you take a few minutes to take stock of your home heating system, now that we are slowly but surely (admittedly, more slowly) moving into the warmer time of the year. As you consider how your heating system performed this past winter, we also encourage you to think further back and consider how your air conditioner functioned last cooling season. It may seem premature, but look at it this way—you don’t want to be thinking about it when the temperatures have already risen!
